Historic Ayers House

Historic Ayers House, former residence of Sir Henry Ayers, has undergone a major conservation works program, funded by the Centenary of Federation grant and DTEI Real Estate Management.

The Builder responsible for the works was Coombs & Barei Constructions Pty Ltd, and a team of services consultants worked with Design and Heritage Management staff to deliver a unique government conservation project.
The most visible part of the works to the building exterior included:
reconstruction of the northern verandah
reconstruction of the central pond and fountain
re-landscaping of the front gardens
feature lighting

The interior works included:
reinstatement of decorative painted wall finishes
rationalisation of exposed services and the upgrade of fire, security, mechanical, electrical and hydraulics services
restoration of timber floors and stairs, plaster walls and ceilings
conjectural reconstruction of a Victorian bathroom.

The project received an award of merit for conservation in the 2001 Civic Trust awards.

Adelaide Convention Centre

With the A$85 million upgrade and extension project now complete, the Adelaide Convention Centre provides internationally competitive, multi-use, purpose-built convention and banqueting facilities. The addition of 7000 sqm of column-free floorspace has given the centre an area of more than 10,000 sqm in exhibition space.

Significant features of the design are:

A dramatic sculptured roof which complements the roof shapes of the Adelaide Festival Centre

A sweeping wall of glass which embraces the River Torrens as a focal point

A new entrance off North Terrace

Regatta's restaurant and coffee shop overlooking the River
